You may know Mailinator as the original disposable email company. We’ve been protecting people’s inboxes from Spam for almost 20 years.
However, since 2011, Mailinator have optimised our Enterprise grade server architecture for testing email workflows. Our servers handle the millions of emails we receive every day with ease.
We have evolved to be the go-to testing companion for thousands of companies all over the globe, who use our subscription service to keep their emails secure and completely private.
In addition, we’ve kept our public inbox free to use for everyone. And, for the very first time in our almost 20 year history we’ve decided to give you a taste of just how much goes through our servers – live.
What exactly is the Realtime feed demo?
Mailinator receives millions of emails every day, with peaks of many thousands per second.
Our Inbox pages are connected with a Websocket that lets us show messages to you in near real-time – there is no need to poll or refresh the page.
Next, when a message arrives at our front door, it shows up in your inbox (almost) instantly – perfect for being picked up by your automated or manual tests.
How do I see it for myself?
You can access the realtime feed here, or simply go to the public Mailinator inbox and click the links.
Woah. These messages are crazy fast. How do I pause them?
Easy peasy. Just click the pause button on the top right hand corner.
For added security and safety, you won’t be able to see the full details of the Mailinator inbox the messages were sent to. You will also be unable to click into the emails to open them up. There is, understandably, a lot of spam in here.
Why is this useful to me?
Aside from just being pretty cool to look at, the real time feed shows you:-
- That Mailinator can easily handle the thousands, or even millions, of messages you might want to send as part of your test runs.
- You don’t need to refresh the page to see new emails land. Both your automated UI and exploratory testing efforts a lot easier than clicking a banner or endlessly pressing F5.
- You can easily pause the feed, and restart at your leisure. If you have an account with us you can use this feature to view the content of your own emails, check links work etc. etc. etc.
- If you’re a Subscriber, you get this same system for your own Private Domain – along with API access, SMS, Rules, and more!
The Mailinator team really hope you get a kick out of using this new feature. Sign up for a free trial here and try it out for yourself.
