What is Mailinator?

Mailinator is a public email service. The biggest difference from other email services is that you do not need to sign up to use the public Mailinator site. Nobody owns any inbox because they are all public. Any email you read here can be read by anyone else in the world. In other words, Mailinator is a website that accepts emails for absolutely any address @mailinator.com.

Any email you can think of @mailinator.com is created when email arrives! From there, the Mailinator website then lets anyone read any of those emails. No signup. No privacy. No ownership. All public. Use any inbox you want – even if 100 people are using it too!

So that's it? It's a "public" email system?

Yes, but there are a few other differences:

• All emails are automatically deleted after a few hours. Once they're deleted, they're gone forever.
• You cannot send email from Mailinator. It is a "receive-only" system.
• You have NO privacy in the public Mailinator system. Please review our Privacy Policy. (We provide subscription plans to get your own completely Private Mailinator!)
• No attachments. Mailinator removes all attachments from emails in the public system.

Sounds cool. How do I sign up?

You don't. First of all - know that you don't need to. You can access any email in any public inbox without signing up. Just type in the inbox name and go! Unless you're interested in a paid subscription (see below), you can't (and don't need to) signup for Mailinator to view any inbox or read any email. If you choose to sign-up, you'll get your own personal inbox where you can save emails for later (remember, they otherwise auto-delete). You can also save your favorite Mailinator inboxes in a list so when you come back later they're just a click away.

Great - how do I create an Email Address to use?

You don't. Every possible email address @mailinator.com already exists. All of them. All Eighty-Trillion-Bazillion of them. You could use "joe@mailinator.com" or "kevin1235@mailinator.com" or anything else.

Every single inbox @mailinator.com already exists and is waiting for you to send email to it.

I need an email that the system deleted - can you get it back for me?

As mentioned, the Mailinator system automatically deletes email after a few hours (new incoming email pushes out old email so exactly how long depends on how much email Mailinator is getting at any given time).

Email in the public system is only stored in RAM - not to disk. When it's deleted by the system or by a user - It's GONE FOREVER.

I received an email from a mailinator.com email address. Can emails be sent from Mailinator?

Mailinator cannot send email. There is no place in the website to send email.

If you received an email from an address at mailinator.com, it's likely the "from" address was forged.

Does the public Mailinator system track my usage?

Mailinator does not keep logs of access to the website. (We also do not use Google Analytics)

Any user may read any email without sign-up, passwords, or personal information. Mailinator does not store identifying information about user access (i.e., IP address). Mailinator has been this way for many years.

Note however - this is subject to change if compelled by law enforcement.

Also note - this statement is specific to the Mailinator public site (i.e., addresses at mailinator.com). It does not apply to private domains (paid subscribers).

So what data does the public Mailinator system keep?

Mailinator tracks real-time data to detect abuse of our website and bans abusers or specific emails when appropriate.

Several days of aggregate data that show website-usage trends is kept. No identifying information is present in this data.

Some emails are kept for spam analysis. This is far less than 1% of total email volume and may only extend an email's life to a few days. No email lives longer than that. Some data is kept around incoming email trends.

What is a "Private Mailinator"?

You can sign up to have your own private Mailinator (using your own domain). Just like the public Mailinator, you can receive email at any inbox in the entire domain. However, unlike the public Mailinator, you can also send emails from any inbox in the entire domain. Millions of inboxes at your fingertips. Additionally, you can access those emails via API or an enhanced Web UI that allows you to see the entire domains (every inbox or a wildcard subset!) in one User Interface.

What are some of the features I can access by subscribing to "Private Mailinator"?

• Your own "private" Mailinator. Mailinator will assign you a unique (private) domain when your subscription starts. If you prefer, you can change that domain to any domain that you own (like say, "myQAteam.com") and point them at the Mailinator email system. All emails sent to that domain will work just like the public Mailinator system except they go into a private inbox only your team can see. In fact, you can see every incoming email (to all incoming inboxes) that comes to your Private domain Super-Inbox.
• With a paid subscription, you get API access inboxes and emails programmatically. This is perfect for using a Mailinator email flow in an automated testing framework. For example, you can completely automate your website's sign-up flow including the "click the link in an email to verify your address".
• Private SMS - some paid plans get a private SMS number. This works just like private email except of course, any text message (instead of email) sent to that number arrives in your team inbox.
• Message Rules - In the private system, you can create rules to automatically forward emails, click links, delete emails, and more!

So it's like an entire Mailinator system, but just for my domain?

Yes, Mailinator will assign you a private domain (i.e. it will be something other than "@mailinator.com") when your subscription starts. Or you can set your own (e.g., xerox-qa-team.com). Follow the instructions on the settings page to point the Mail Exchange (MX) record of your domain to the Mailinator servers. Again, all email sent to the private domain is readable only by your team.

Wait, so every single email is in one inbox?

Yes. That's the Team Inbox ! The good news however is that your Team Inbox allows you to filter based on a specific inbox (i.e., "bob") or wildcard queries on inboxes (i.e., "test*"). Your choice - see one inbox at a time, or see thousands at once!

Manybrain, LLC (alternately, "Mailinator", "we", "us" or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to complying with this privacy policy ("Privacy Policy"), which describes what information we collect about you, including how we collect it, how we use it, with whom we may share it and what choices you have regarding our use of your information. Cookies and Usage Reports

Google AdSense and Web Beacons

Our websites may use Google AdSense, a web analysis service provided by Google, in order to better understand your use of our websites and how we can improve them. Google AdSense collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit a website, rather than your name or other identifying information. Some of the areas of the Website may contain electronic images known as web beacons (sometimes known as clear gifs) that allow Mailinator, and its third party providers or affiliates, to count and track users who have visited certain portions of the Website. Web beacons collect only limited information and do not collect any of your personal information.

Correspondence

We appreciate your questions and comments about the Website and welcome your messages at our our support email address, support@manybrain.com. If you correspond with Mailinator through the Website or via email, the Collected Information may include the content of, and metadata regarding, any correspondence you may have with us. We may share your messages with those within our organization who are most capable of addressing the issues contained in your message. We may archive your message for a certain period of time or discard it.

How Can I Opt-Out of Promotional Correspondence?

We may send you emails with promotional offers only if you opt-in to receiving such emails. If you would no longer like to receive information, newsletters or other promotional messages from us, please click the link at the bottom of any such email you receive from us and follow the instructions, or alternatively you may contact us, support@manybrain.com with the word "UNSUBSCRIBE" or "REMOVE" in the subject line. Your email address will be removed from our marketing list. Please allow us a reasonable period of time in order to satisfy your request, as some promotions may already be in process.

Online Account Management

If you elected to subscribe to any online services provided via the Website, including the ability to access any password-protected areas of the Website, you will be required to submit personal information (including some Collected Information) for the purpose of verifying your identity and your authority to manage the account. This Collected Information will be used by Mailinator, our agents, suppliers and third-party service providers for internal use, to respond to your service requests and for any other lawful purpose.

With Whom Do We Share Information That We Collect?

In addition to the uses mentioned or described elsewhere in this Privacy Policy or in the Terms of Use, we may catalog and add Collected Information to our database.

For the private upgraded Mailinator plan, it will be necessary for us to share some of your Collected Information with the third party payment processors in order to process your requested transaction. We do not sell, rent, or lease our user lists or the identity of individual users to third parties. However, Mailinator may use and disclose certain aggregated, anonymized information, such as Website usage data, to our trusted business partners. Such information may also be shared with other users or the general public for advertising, informational, or comparison purposes. However, such information shall not be personally identifiable to any user.

When submitting information, corresponding, making requests for information, and otherwise interacting with Mailinator and its representatives through or in connection with the Website, you choose what information to supply or submit, whether you wish to receive further information, and how you may be contacted. If you are using the public Mailinator system, you should have no expectation of privacy because anyone can read any email received and posted in any mailbox. Please do not use the public Mailinator system for anything that you want to keep private.

If you are visiting the Website, or any part thereof, from outside of the United States of America, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored or processed in the United States, where our servers are located and our central database is operated. (g) Use any of the System's or Services' communication features in a manner that adversely affects the availability of its resources to other users

Mailinator reserves the right to take whatever lawful actions it may deem appropriate in response to actual or suspected violations of these Terms of Use, including, without limitation, the suspension or termination of your access and/or account. Mailinator may cooperate with legal authorities and/or third parties in the investigation of any suspected or alleged crime or civil wrong. Except as may be expressly limited by the Privacy Policy, Mailinator reserves the right at all times to disclose any information as Mailinator deems necessary to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request, or to edit, refuse to post or to remove any information or materials, in whole or in part, in Mailinator's sole discretion. You also agree to reimburse Mailinator for any damage, loss, cost or expense Mailinator incurs (including fees or costs of attorneys, accountants, professional advisors, and other experts incurred in connection with the defense or settlement of the foregoing) because of your use of the System or the Services for any unlawful or prohibited purpose.

Accounts, Passwords, and Security

In order to utilize certain Services, you may need to set up an account (including establishing a login ID and password). You are entirely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account information, including your login ID and password, and for any and all activity that occurs under your account or login ID. You agree to notify Mailinator immediately upon learning of any unauthorized use of your account, login ID, or password or any other unauthorized access or breach of security. However, you may be held liable for losses incurred by Mailinator or any other person or entity due to another person using your account, login ID, or password.

You may not use any other user's account, login ID, or password at any time without the express permission and consent of the holder of that account, login ID, or password. You may not transfer or assign your account.

Mailinator cannot and will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to comply with these obligations. If you are under 18, you may use the Services only with involvement of a parent or guardian.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account in the event that you breach any of these Terms of Use.

Submissions

Any information, communications, or material of any type or nature that you submit to or post on the System (or to any of our pages on a social media platform or other website) by e-mail, posting, messaging, uploading, downloading, or otherwise (collectively, a "Submission") is done at your own risk and without any expectation of privacy. Mailinator does not own any Submissions provided via the System. You are fully responsible for all Submissions, which must comply with these Terms of Use. You hereby agree that by inputting/submitting such Submissions, you grant Mailinator a nonexclusive, unrestricted, irrevocable, worldwide, sublicenseable, transferable, perpetual, unlimited, assignable, fully paid up and royalty-free right to copy, display, edit, publish, prepare derivative works of, distribute, process, analyze, use and commercialize, in any media known or hereinafter developed, such Submissions (or any content or materials contained therein). You hereby represent and warrant that you have the full legal right to so use such Submissions and that they, and any content or material contained therein, are not confidential or proprietary to any third party, nor are you using it in violation of any law or contractual restriction.

Mailinator neither actively monitors general use of the System, nor exercises editorial control over any Submissions. However, Mailinator does reserve the right to monitor such Submissions or other use at any time as it deems appropriate and to remove any materials that, in Mailinator's sole discretion, may be illegal, may subject Mailinator to liability, may violate these Terms of Use, or are, in the sole discretion of Mailinator, inconsistent with Mailinator's purpose for the System.

Electronic Communications

When you use the System and/or Services or send e-mails to us, you are communicating with us electronically. You consent to receive communications from us electronically. We will communicate with you by e-mail or by posting notices on the System and/or Services. You agree that all agreements, notices, disclosures, and other communications that we provide to you electronically satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing. You further agree that any notices provided by us electronically are deemed to be given and received on the date we transmit any such electronic communication as described in these Terms of Use.

Representations and Warranties You represent and warrant that any information, materials, software, or data that you submit to or through the System, or that you access, use, download, or otherwise obtain on or through the System, are: (a) up-to-date, accurate, complete, reliable, truthful, and suitable to and appropriate for the purpose for which they are intended; and (b) free of viruses and other disabling devices and destructive routines.

Disclaimers

You acknowledge and agree that your use of the System and Services is at your own risk. The information, software, CONTENT, SERVICES, or materials available from or provided on the System or via the Services, ARE provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties or guaranties of any kind, either expressed or implied, including, but not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability, title, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranties implied by a course of performance, course of dealing, or usage of trade. IF YOU USE THE FREE, PERSONAL, DISPOSABLE EMAIL INBOXES, YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT ALL EMAILS SENT TO THOSE INBOXES ARE PUBLIC AND MAY BE READ BY ANY THIRD PARTY. YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT YOU HAVE NO EXPECTATION OF PRIVACY OR CONFIDENTIALITY WITH RESPECT TO SUCH EMAILS. YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONTENT YOU SHARE, AND FOR THE CONSEQUENCES OF SUBMITTING OR POSTING THE SAME. MAILINATOR DISCLAIMS ANY DUTY TO MONITOR PUBLIC FORUMS, AND SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIMS ANY RESPONSIBILITY OR LIABILITY FOR INFORMATION PROVIDED THEREON. MAILINATOR AND/OR OUR THIRD PARTY SUPPLIERS OR LICENSORS DO NOT REPRESENT, WARRANT OR COVENANT THAT THE SYSTEM AND THE SERVICES ARE OR WILL BE PRIVATE, CONFIDENTIAL, ACCURATE, CURRENT, COMPLETE, FREE OF TECHNICAL AND TYPOGRAPHICAL ERRORS, secure, RELIABLE, OR APPROPRIATE FOR ANY PARTICULAR USE TO WHICH YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY MAY CHOOSE TO PUT THEM, THAT THEY ARE OR WILL BE AVAILABLE ON AN UNINTERRUPTED AND ERROR-FREE BASIS, THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED, OR THAT THE SYSTEM AND SERVICES ARE FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER DISABLING DEVICES OR HARMFUL COMPONENTS. MAILINATOR PERIODICALLY AMENDS, CHANGES, ADDS, DELETES, UPDATES, OR ALTERS THE SYSTEM AND THE SERVICES WITHOUT NOTICE. FURTHER, MAILINATOR ASSUMES NO LIABILITY OR RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY ERRORS OR OMISSIONS IN THE CONTENT OF THE SYSTEM OR THE SERVICES. MAILINATOR SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIMS ANY DUTY TO UPDATE THE CONTENT, OR ANY OTHER INFORMATION ON THE SYSTEM OR THE SERVICES.

Limitation of Liability

IN NO EVENT SHALL MAILINATOR, ITS CONTRACTORS, SUPPLIERS, CONTENT PROVIDERS, OR THE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES, AND AGENTS OF EACH OF THE FOREGOING, BE LIABLE TO YOU OR ANY OTHER THIRD PARTY FOR ANY LOSS, COST, DAMAGE, OR OTHER INJURY, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT, NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY, OR OTHERWISE, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH: (A) THE USE OF, OR RELIANCE ON, THE SYSTEM AND/OR SERVICES; (B) the security, PRIVACY OR CONFIDENTIALITY of the system AND/or the services; (c) THE USE, COPYING, OR DISPLAY OF THE SYSTEM AND/OR THE SERVICES OR THE TRANSMISSION OF INFORMATION TO OR FROM THE SYSTEM OVER THE INTERNET; (d) MAILINATOR'S PERFORMANCE OF, OR FAILURE TO PERFORM, ITS OBLIGATIONS IN CONNECTION WITH THESE TERMS OF USE AND THE SERVICES; (e) ANY DEFAMATORY, OFFENSIVE, OR ILLEGAL CONDUCT BY YOU, OTHER USERS OF THE SYSTEM OR THE SERVICES, OR OTHER THIRD PARTIES; OR (F) THE AVAILABILITY, RELIABILITY, ACCURACY, TIMELINESS, OR QUALITY OF THE SERVICES. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHALL MAILINATOR, OR ITS CONTRACTORS, SUPPLIERS, CONTENT PROVIDERS, OR THE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES AND AGENTS OF EACH OF THE FOREGOING, BE LIABLE TO YOU OR ANY OTHER THIRD PARTY FOR ANY INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, PUNITIVE, SPECIAL, OR SIMILAR DAMAGES OR COSTS (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, LOST PROFITS OR DATA, LOSS OF GOODWILL, LOSS OF OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY, LOSS OF USE, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, AND CLAIMS OF THIRD PARTIES) ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THESE TERMS OF USE, THE SYSTEM, THE SERVICES, OR ANYTHING DESCRIBED IN THE FOREGOING CLAUSES (A) THROUGH (F) OF THIS PARAGRAPH, OR ANY OTHER CAUSE BEYOND THE CONTROL OF MAILINATOR, EVEN IF MAILINATOR WAS ADVISED, KNEW, OR SHOULD HAVE KNOWN OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES OR COSTS. IN A JURISDICTION THAT DOES NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR CERTAIN DAMAGES, THE AGGREGATE LIABILITY OF MAILINATOR AND ITS CONTRACTORS, SUPPLIERS, CONTENT PROVIDERS, AND THE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES, AND AGENTS OF EACH OF THE FOREGOING, SHALL BE LIMITED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THESE TERMS OF USE TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

WITHOUT LIMITING ANY OF THE FOREGOING, IF MAILINATOR, ITS CONTRACTORS, SUPPLIERS, CONTENT PROVIDERS, OR ANY OF THE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES, OR AGENTS OF ANY OF THE FOREGOING, IS FOUND LIABLE TO YOU OR TO ANY THIRD PARTY AS A RESULT OF ANY CLAIMS OR OTHER MATTERS ARISING UNDER OR IN CONNECTION WITH THESE TERMS OF USE, THE SYSTEM, OR THE SERVICES, MAILINATOR AND SUCH PARTIES' CUMULATIVE, AGGREGATE, AND MAXIMUM LIABILITY FOR ALL SUCH CLAIMS AND OTHER MATTERS IN ANY CALENDAR YEAR SHALL NOT EXCEED USD $50.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend and hold Mailinator harmless from and against all claims, demands, suits or other proceedings, and all resulting loss, damage, liability, cost, and expense (including attorneys' fees), brought by any third party in connection with or arising out of content, data, or information that you submit, post to, or transmit through the System or Services, your access to and use of the System and/or Services, your violation of these Terms of Use, your violation of any applicable law, regulation or code, or your violation of any rights of another. We reserve, and you grant to us, the right to assume exclusive defense and control of any matter subject to indemnification by you hereunder. All rights and duties of indemnification that are set forth herein shall survive termination of these Terms of Use.

Typographical Errors

The System and the Services could include technical inaccuracies or typographical errors. Mailinator shall have no liability in connection with any such inaccuracies or errors, nor shall Mailinator have any obligation to identify and/or correct any such inaccuracies or errors.

For your convenience, certain hyperlinks may be provided on the System and Services that link to other websites or social media platforms which are not under the control of Mailinator (the "Linked Websites"). Mailinator does not endorse or sponsor any Linked Websites and is not responsible for the availability, accuracy, content, or any other aspect of the Linked Websites. Mailinator disclaims all liability for such websites, for all access to and use thereof, and for use of the links to such websites. We also disclaim all liability, and make no representations or warranties, with respect to any products or services made available, sold, or provided to you by any third party. These Terms of Use and any applicable promotions terms (as each may be revised and amended from time to time according to their respective terms) collectively constitute the entire agreement with respect to your access to and use of the System and the Services. You agree that you shall not contest the admissibility or enforceability of Mailinator's copy of these Terms of Use in connection with any action or proceeding arising out of or relating to these Terms of Use. You agree that any violation, or threatened violation, by you of these Terms of Use, or the referenced Privacy Policy, constitutes an unlawful and unfair business practice that will cause us irreparable and unquantifiable harm. You also agree that monetary damages would be inadequate for such harm and consent to our obtaining any injunctive or equitable relief that we deem necessary or appropriate. Governing Law/Jurisdiction/Claims Limitation

These Terms of Use shall be governed by and construed under the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to conflicts of laws, principles or rules.
